This was to head down on the occassion of Lucas' birth!
I was going to leave much earlier but the center of the
country was walloped with a major storm that caused
serious flooding. My first night was in the Horse
Cave KOA.  I wanted to stay commercial due to the
flooding.  I could call them and be sure of
conditions.  The second night was at the Little
Rock North KOA.  Both were nice for a single
night's stay.  The third night was at the Blue Sky
Lake Livingston RV park.  This is a great example
of how to do a commercial park.  It was just right
in many ways.  While there were small sites and
many full times (e.g. trailer park type) for a
commercial park it is pretty nice.
I did get to stop and visit Lake Livingston State
Park.  This is a nice park on the par with Findlay.
Smaller but nice. Lots of great times with the
						family. Matt and Lucas:

						Here's my office:
The Great Blue Herons around the development lake
						are getting tamer.
It was mating time at the Brazos Bend State Park and
the alligators were all about it. Here's a huge
male swimming quickly while riding very high in the
water.  You only see this during mating.
						    Rarely
see a bunny, but it is spring!
A Black Crowned Night Heron.  There were lots
and lots and lots of birds.

When I do 40 Acre Lake and then the spillway and around
Elm Lake, it is sometimes not possible to finish a lake.
Here is a nine footer blocking our way around Elm Lake
after wen went almost all the way around.  Luckily
there was a volunteer on a cart that shooed this one
back in the water ... where a similar sized male was
						waiting.

Matt found a lizard in the garage!
The fifteen foot gator shown was
						RRRROOOOAAAARRRRIIIINNNNGGGG. The videos don't do
it justice.  It was VERY loud.
The front paw of the gator would cover both my
hands. Same with the back paw.
						   ROOOAAARRRR!

						   Happy birthday to me!

And off to Galveston for a few days:

Our first walk to the beach, at 6:30 am, started with me
looking up and seeing a Great Blue Heron standing across
						the road.

Do you see it in the above photo?
						Here:

There is a huge crane working on a new building near the
						seawall.

It is seaweed time at the beach.

As the pods of pelicans fly by, if you look at them with
your full attention, about a third will have at least
one pelican who will break off and circle you, looking
at you with that same intent.

Sunset Beach, which allowed cars on the half mile of
beach, closed.  The reason was developement of the
						beachfront properties.

It's seaweed day at the beach.

Looking to the north from the deck on the house.
						Cows!

Spent a week in Galveston and a weekend there with the
kids.  Did a lot of fishing and caught nothing but
						crabs.

						A local snapper:

A heron hunting in the yard had a fit when I let the
						dogs out one morning.

						A cool dude:

						Lisa and the boys:

Spent Memorial weekend on the Island.  Spotted a
Speckled Kingsnake, had crab trap fun, fishing fun,
there has been wood washing ashore.  That having
been washed out of various rivers upstream.

This was a fishing trip with Matt catching his first Red
						out of the surf.

And some catfish from the rocks at the end of the
						seawall.

Got within fifty feet of a Spoonbill!  There's also
a new lifeguard shack by the RV park.  The
construction on the new bog building is slow.  This
						is an early morning/dawn/twilight picture:

						We did some kites!

The house as of Memorial Weekend, 2025:

						Lucas is smiling now.

The final weekend in Galveston before heading home.

Took a trip to Seawolf Park.  It is a rather pricey
park with a focus on fishing.

						Fishing on the seawall.

Seen on the way home, in Arkansas.  A toxic truck
and a whole Sunrise RV Park full of crawdad holes.

Stopped at Sunrise RV Park in Texarkana, Arkansas,
Parker's Crossroads RV Park in Yuma, Tennessee and Olive
Branch Campground in Oregonia, Ohio.  All were
						excellent.

On the way home Toodles decided he wanted to lay where
Odo was laying.  What a jerk.

A nice, albeit long, trip home.  Uneventful.
