We sat around with a number of couples our age who also were first-time travelers to another land.  We all agreed.  How stupid we were to not have experienced this before!

Bravo to Applevacations.com and Sunscape Punta Cana as they made our trip nearly perfect.

Our room.  Many others reported different room arrangements.  This seems to be very good.  A suite would be better, but ...

The coconut tree from our balcony:

They twisted towels into a duck, or elephant, and put many flowers on it:

There was no shortage of flowers.

The beach, reported by others as the best there is.

The buffet could serve 500 or so, without undue lines.

Mary in the pool:

The photographer had birds, snakes, monkeys and other wildlife that were very tame and photogenic.

On the larger image there is enough resolution on the next photograph to see the monkey on Mary's shoulder.
