We left at 4:46 PM on Friday and drove to about 1 AM.  There is a cheap ($9) overnight campground in Berea, KY.  Hang a left from I-75 and it is about 500 feet down.  We also stopped at either Richmond or Anti KY at a LaRosa's Pizza.  Very good!  We left about 9:30 AM.  Stopped at Ringold, GA (Exit 140) at a Country Bumpkin and had another nice meal.  We are going to drive to just past the Florida line and camp at Jennings Resort Campground.

Stopped at the KOA in Statesville, NC.  Nice place but packed with people passing through.  Arrived at 12:11 AM (Exit 45).  We had tried the Carrowinds Campground near Charolette but it appeared to be closed.  Took a short walk.  Wish I had more time with the kids in the woods.  Exit 2 in Virginia (off I-77) has a campground in the mountains.
